Braking forces of high speed trains mainly include electric braking force and friction force. And friction braking force is the last safeguard to stop a train safely. Friction braking force is realized by friction between the brake disc and pad in the brake system. Performance of the brake pad in the brake system affects the train brake effect greatly. Development of domestic and oversea brake pad materials mainly experiences metal, alloy and powder metallurgy materials. 

Only a few countries such as Germany, France and Japan can manufacture high speed train brake linings internationally. And Germany Knorr-Bremse monopolizes over 80% of the market for high-speed train brake pads worldwide. Brake pads of the brake system rely on import for a long time since high-speed trains are opened up in China. Generally, imported brake pads have high price, long lead time, delayed spare part supply, poor after-sales service and other issues. High-speed train brake pads are at technical protection period before 2012 and bring in oversea products all the time. In recent years, private enterprises represented by TYSJ and Puran set foot in the high-speed train brake pad field gradually in China. TYSJ obtained the certificate of CRCC China Railway Product Certification for 5 types of brake pads of 7 vehicle models of CRH trains in September 2013, and Puran obtained the certificate of CRCC Certification in 2014. BOSUN completed 1:1 brake friction and abrasion performance test of high speed train brake linings in 2015.
